Thanks Celia and Ginger!
@guest (unnamed) She has access to a phone but all her phone numbers are on her cell phone. We're not clear whether she'll be charged for use of the hospital phone calls (bets, anyone?) so we're keeping those calls down for now.

Why not take Marilee's phone to a store and get her a new charger?
I think that might be the easiest and nicest thing to do. She must miss her phone a lot.
She is going to a skilled nursing facility for PT, she is bound to be there for several weeks. I am glad they did not release her to live alone at home so prematurely. She won't be able to drive and may even fall and get injured further.
It is great news that she is going to physical therapy. |

|

I was called by Marilee's brother Rick and he alerted me that Marilee is going to be moved to rehab today. Long story short: She is being transfered to Mt Vernon Hospital in Alexandria
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl...mp;spn=0.017005,0.038452&z=15
(note: this link pointed to the wrong hospital earlier- it is now fixed)
Where they have a highly rated Acute Rehab Program.
I called Marilee and had a good long talk (she is now able to remember the names of months and knows today is St Patrick's Day). She doesn't know how long she'll be there or exactly what kind of room arrangement and facilities are there. She's been told rehab could be anywhere from 5 days to a month. As soon as they move her and she's able she'll give me a call.
In the meantime we're going to see if we can collect her cellphone charger, books, reading glasses and 2 changes of clothes and get them to her sometime on Wednesday.
She also confirmed "Sqwincher" is the name of the rehydration fluid she drinks.
More news as it breaks... _________________ Steve Johnsen

Marilee called just before 6PM- she is being transfered on Wed 3/18, probably in the late morning. _________________ Steve Johnsen

|

Marilee called this evening after a long day of being transfered and inducted into Mount Vernon Hospital.
Her doctors say she won't be there long
Her nurses say she'll be there for awhile
Marilee says the food is just as bad
(her humor is still there)
She's in 513, a corner room on the 5th floor, sharing with another person.
Visiting hours will be 11am - 9pm. It appears she'll have PT and language therapy in the morning but of course it's too early to tell what her daily schedule will end up like.
She does have a phone and by tomorrow afternoon she should have her cellphone charged up. As far as she can tell she still has no access to the internet. I'll visit tomorrow and try to find out more along with wireless signal strength.
Laura says the kitty food & litter supplies are holding up, Marilee bought in bulk and two kitties only eat so much. Laura is also on another scavenger hunt for the highly coveted cellphone charger now that Marilee has been able to tell us where to find. She's also collected her reading glasses, change of clothes, a couple of books, a handful of powdered squenchers' packets and she'll check to see if her main keys are in the house (and not lost at fairfax).
Marilee needs to get a doppler scan to check for potential blood clots due to her extended bed time. If she gets a clean scan she'll be allowed some freedom of movement. _________________ Steve Johnsen

| Is there a mailing address for notes and packages? Can she receive food packages? |

| For those of us at a distance, are there other kinds of small goodies that might be nice to send? |

I've continued the discussion in the new topic with more information. I suggest holding off on food shipments until she gets her pt assessment and an idea on how soon or long before she gets released.
