NOTE: I haven't changed the original posts but on the 2nd page begins the updated info.
I received a call from Marilee this afternoon and she has been told she may be released on Monday. Yay!
She is talking better with only a few hesitations and word stumbles. She has been up and walking around but is weak and needs to use a walker to get around.
She is frustrated because she hasn't had much information from her doctors and only knows a little bit.
There's also the question of whether she's recovered & ready for home alone or is being released ASAP to satisfy some insurance criteria.
She'll have to take a cab home from Fairfax and doesn't know when she'll be released. If it's too late in the afternoon a 25 minute cab ride could turn into a 60+ minute trip.
And unfortunately we didn't find the right charger for her cell phone, so she hasn't been able to make the calls she wanted to.
But she is doing better and will be back under the supervision of her watchful cats soon. _________________ Steve Johnsen

Marilee just called and said her doctor had a change of opinion about releasing her today. She is not coming home. More info as it becomes available.
Noon News: I got through to Marilee right away and she was able to talk for a few minutes before lunch and more testing.
Her Kaiser doctor says she is anemic and needs blood work (testing? or transfusion?)
She is also being scheduled for 3 hours of daily Physical Therapy for walking and talking. Important to know for anyone planning to visit this week.
It sounds like they might take her offsite for PT and she was actually get dressed to go. She only has the clothes on her back and we'll see if we can't bring her a change from home (and the right cell phone charger) if she's going to be in the hospital much longer.
She's also trying to remember the name of the water she drinks. It's like a Gatorade or vitamin water only without the sugar & calories. Anybody remember what she drinks? _________________ Steve Johnsen

I quickly checked her LJ and she only calls it "rehydration fluid". There was a post in which the Kaiser nurse told her to "start with water, go to Gatorade", and then to the rehydration fluid that she uses. I expect that Kaiser would have the name of the brand of rehydration fluids she uses.

Steve, I recalled a discussion a while back on a beadwork forum where she asked about artificially-sweetened rehydration fluids. I ran a search, and one of the names mentioned that she looked into was "Sqwincher". Hope that helps!
