Good News! I actually talked to Marilee by phone this evening and she sounded very good including her personality really coming through clearly.
She has been moved out of the ICU area, but I couldn't get her room number from anybody I talked to, they just transferred me to where she was and the nurse that answered would only take my name & number and said she would call back if Marilee wanted to talk to me. So if anybody visits make sure to check in with the information desk to find Marilee.
We still don't know what they did to her yesterday or what she's faced with next. But it sounds like progress.
She is still having trouble with some of her words but stumbles along much faster and doesn't give up as easy. She asked for her cellphone charger and a book she's reading. Poor Laura, the neighbor! I called her up to describe these items warning her it was a scavenger hunt. Laura found two cords, one of which might be her cellphone charger and we're taking a guess on which book from the top of her headboard to bring as Marilee couldn't remember author or title, just "I'm halfway through and it doesn't have a [dust jacket] on it and its on my bed bookshelf".
We'll meet up in the morning (weird/lucky coincidence- it turns out that Laura works just around the corner from where I live) and I'll see if I can't run these over to Marilee early afternoon.
So maybe Marilee will be calling you soon! (and you, and you, and you too!)

That's great news! I checked through my e-mails from her for the week or so before her stroke and she didn't say what book she'd been reading. But maybe she mentioned it to someone else who's here.

Good news! Thanks for the update.
I'll try to visit this morning and take along a couple of books for her, so she'll have something on hand as emergency reading.
I'll be out of town next week so won't be able to visit then. |

I knew I was on the upswing after some surgery when I started demanding a book to read! This is such good news!
Thanks again for your taking such care of Marilee. It's a great relief to those of us who live far away to know someone is right on the spot to help her.
