I visited Marilee at Fairfax hospital this afternoon.
She was drifting in and out of sleep and may have been in pain from a headache. She did open her eyes a couple of times and seemed aware of my presence, so I told her about all the love and well wishes that are being beamed to her from online friends. And that her cats Shiva and Spirit are being well cared for.
I spent less than 15 minutes with her, mostly sitting queitly at her bedside. She couldn't get a word out when she first tried but she said "thank you" clearly just before I left.
I'll try go see her again on Sunday.

Thank you for the update Janet. I know it's a lot of effort to get in to see her for such a short time. But I'm sure it's helpful for her to have some friendly stimulation. Did you have the opportunity to talk to her nurse? _________________ Steve Johnsen

The nurse used the term "drifting in and out" about Marilee when I arrived and said she'd had some of the tests they wanted to do but did not elaborate.
I hung around a bit after leaving Marilee hoping to talk to the nurse but she was away from the desk and when she did walk back she was on the phone and it sounded like it wasn't going to be a quick conversation. So I gave her a quick thanks and left.
