I saw Marilee tonight. She was fairly alert although her words are still a bit jumbled. We carried on a decent conversation. She asked me how my "new house place" was and I let her know I had signed the lease on my new apartment yesterday and was going to walk through it on Sunday. She was worried about Spirit and Shiva and I assured her that Steve had made sure someone would take care of them. I related to the nurse everything I knew about her and promised to read through her Livejournal for any medications she mentioned and to call them back. I'll make a post to my Livejournal, and I'll see about commenting those folks who may not have gotten the word.

She assured me several times that she thinks she's getting better. She was able to convey that she doesn't like some of the tests she has to do, and I agreed that tests can be uncomfortable. She also got across that she was a little confused over what happened. She doesn't know exactly what happened which necessitated she first call 911, and I got the idea that they took her to a local hospital and then she slept, and then she woke up here (here, seeming to mean the Neuro ICU). I hadn't seen Steve's post about speaking carefully before I left, but I wound up doing it anyway: speaking slowly and clearly. Occasionally if she said something that wasn't clear, if I asked her to repeat it, it came out more clearly. She said she was glad I came, and I promised her I'd come back when I could. Then she said she was getting sleepy again and I asked if she wanted me to stay or go. She said that I'd better go.

Thanks for posting this. I'm encouraged--my visit must have coincided with a down time for her.
